Organising a team building in Brussels quickly becomes a puzzle: you have to please the sporty and the quiet ones, stick to a budget, find a date and above all avoid the “mandatory fun” everyone endures in silence. The good news is that the capital is full of options, from the historic centre to the offices of the European quarter.
Here are ten ideas we see working week after week, each with its ideal group size, the budget to plan for and the kind of team it suits best.
1. A perfume making workshop
Each participant blends their own fragrance from a palette of essences, guided step by step. The activity is calm, inclusive and leaves a tangible memory: a 30 ml bottle that sits on their desk for weeks. 2. A scented candle workshop
More affordable than perfume, the candle workshop works very well for large groups: up to 40 people at once, at your office or in our studio on Rue de Flandre. Soy wax, cotton wick, choice of scent and container: in 90 minutes everyone leaves with a personalised candle. Details of the candle workshop.
3. An escape room
The classic remains effective for small teams of 4 to 6 who enjoy the pressure of the clock. The downside: beyond 12 people you have to split the group into separate rooms and the “whole team” effect fades. Best for small teams or combined with a meal.
4. A cooking workshop
Cooking together naturally creates roles and laughter. Short formats work best: a two-hour pastry workshop rather than a full menu. Our bento cake workshop is one example: everyone decorates their own mini cake and takes it home.
5. A city rally in the centre
Riddles, photo challenges, places to find between the Grand-Place, Sainte-Catherine and the Sablon. Ideal for newcomers discovering the city and for large groups that can be split into teams. Plan a rainy-day alternative, which in Brussels is not a theoretical concern.
6. A mosaic or clay workshop
Slow, hands-on activities have a real effect on stressed teams: you focus on your hands and conversations become more personal. Mosaic even lets you create a collective piece to hang in the office, while air-dry clay needs no kiln at all.
7. Office olympics or a padel tournament
For young, sporty teams nothing beats a bit of competition. Be careful not to exclude colleagues who are less comfortable physically: always offer an alternative or mix sport and a calm activity on the same day.
8. A beer or chocolate tasting
This is Brussels, after all. A guided tasting is easy to organise, suits all ages and pairs well with a workshop beforehand. Think of colleagues who do not drink: chocolate or specialty coffee are elegant alternatives.
9. A volunteering day
Litter picking along the canal, helping at a food bank, a work day in an urban vegetable garden. The meaning given to the day often matters more than the activity itself, and many Brussels associations welcome corporate teams.
10. A quiz or games night
The cheapest format and the simplest to organise in-house: a quiz about the company, giant board games, a music quiz. Perfect as a complement to a main activity or for tight budgets.
How to choose the right activity
- Group size: above 25 people, favour formats where everyone takes part at the same time (creative workshops, rally, olympics).
- Inclusivity: avoid activities that exclude people with reduced mobility, pregnant colleagues or those who do not drink.
- Keepsake: an activity you leave with an object stays in people’s memories far longer than a simple outing.
- Logistics: an activity that comes to your office saves an hour of travel and simplifies diaries.
- Budget: count €35 to €70 per person for a hosted creative workshop, materials included, versus €25 to €45 for an escape room and €60 and up for a full cooking class.
